The HSBC SVNS Singapore 2024 marked an exciting new chapter in the world of sevens rugby, taking the sport to unprecedented heights with a unique blend of athleticism, entertainment, and cultural experiences.

Held from May 3-5, 2024 at the iconic Singapore National Stadium, the event brought together fans, athletes, and enthusiasts for a thrilling three-day celebration. As the Event Delivery Partner, KIN played a pivotal role in orchestrating this grand spectacle.

The HSBC SVNS Singapore 2024 was more than just a rugby tournament; it was a festival that blended sport, music, food, fitness, and immersive experiences. Over 44,000 spectators flocked to the stadium to witness top-tier rugby action featuring 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams from powerhouse nations like New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa, Australia, Canada, Argentina, Great Britain, and the USA.

Fans were treated to a diverse array of experiences off the pitch. The Food Market at the 100Plus Promenade offered delectable dishes from local food trucks, while the Sun Stage provided non-stop music and performances. The Beach Club stood out as a fan favourite, offering a relaxed atmosphere where spectators could enjoy beverages and DJ music while watching the matches. For corporate guests and VIPs, the Sunroom Lounge provided a luxurious experience with curated entertainment, gourmet food and beverages, and big-screen action. Further, the event featured finals for School 7s, SEA 7s, and Titans Ruck and Rumble, adding an additional layer of fun and excitement. The Turf Games, a fitness competition, also attracted a crowd, showcasing the diverse nature of the event.

As the Event Delivery Partner, KIN was instrumental in ensuring the event’s success. Their extensive scope of work encompassed multiple facets of the event, showcasing expertise and attention to detail; from meticulously planned use of venue space, including venue dressing, client flow, signage, and access control for both human and vehicle traffic, comprehensive risk assessment and contingency plans were developed to ensure smooth operations throughout the event days. Customised builds and general overlays for operational and experiential areas, both on and off the pitch, were provided. The team coordinated set-ups for various zones and booths, including Turf Games, Merchandise Booth, Experiential Zone, and corporate boxes. Auxiliary services, such as security, cleaning, gate operations, and competition medical services, internet provision, ensuring both Front of House and Back of House operations were facilitated and ran smoothly. The event’s aesthetic elements were brought to life, from the creation of visuals to drafting works, further enhancing the overall experience for attendees.

All logistical aspects for players and officials, including arrival, departure, accommodation, accreditation, and local transportation were successfully managed, executed and deployed. With the assistance of 50 Team Liaison Officers, seamless communication and arrangements were ensured.

Management & coordination of food and beverage operations included provision of crew meals to players’, and officials’ menus as well as all hydration requirements. Volunteers were recruited, briefed and deployed across various roles, ensuring the event’s smooth execution.

The KIN team also supported World Rugby with match scheduling, protocol, coordination between local ball kids and match admins, including on-pitch ancillary events. As the Event Delivery Partner, coordination with external stakeholders engaged by World Rugby, management of tender process for sports presentation vendors, ensuring comprehensive media and broadcast coverage, show concepts and execution were facilitated by the KIN team.

Despite it being the first time the KIN team had to work directly with World Rugby Tournament Limited, they navigated various challenges, dealt with budgetary uncertainties, and coordinated with foreign agencies that were unfamiliar with the local market. By leveraging and gathering local industry experts and sourcing materials from China, costs were reduced without compromising quality. A team was also sent to HSBC SVNS Perth to gain insights into the new event model, ensuring a better understanding of the competition’s backend operations prior to the Singapore games.

The HSBC SVNS Singapore 2024 was a resounding success, a large part due to KIN’s meticulous planning and execution. The event not only delivered an unforgettable experience for fans and clients but also set a high standard for future editions. As KIN continues to push the boundaries of sports event management, the success of HSBC SVNS Singapore 2024 stands as a testament to their expertise and commitment to excellence.
