The Story
We were proud to be selected as the turnkey operator for this rare and prestigious event in Singapore. For the first time since 1994, Singapore held the Davis Cup international men’s team tennis regional qualifying competition. Singapore hosted Group 3 matches of the Asia/Oceania region, which featured eight countries including Singapore—the other countries were Iran, Kuwait, Malaysia, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Syria and Vietnam.
Adopting a multi-disciplinary approach, we managed the end-to-end organisation and reporting of all venue logistics down to the floodlighting of built-up tennis courts. We developed an onsite overlay plan and provided overall design support for the competition’s marketing collateral.
We also had to oversee, manage and coordinate ground transport for stakeholders including participants and liaise with transport providers. We studied the tournament requirements, to ensure that the set-up complied with the International Tennis Federation’s Davis Cup standards. This included court layout and lighting design. The specifications of the qualifying tournament were demanding but we dug deep to ensure that our deliverables were up to the required standard.
With the Davis Cup qualifying matches being the jewel in the crown as they exhibited the best tennis players the eight countries have to offer, we also concurrently oversaw the development of the third edition of Singapore Tennis Festival (STF), which holds tennis competitions and activities for the man in the street who is interested in tennis. Tours for participants were organised to learn more about the sport and to meet Team Singapore athletes. We also helped to set up a tennis-themed camp as well as clinics for families to try out tennis together.
