The Story
The national movement for sport – ActiveSG – spearheaded by Sport Singapore, was launched in 2014 as a key recommendation for Singapore’s Vision 2030; offering Singaporean Individuals, Families and Communities ample opportunities and environments to experience and share the joy of living better through sport.
The ActiveSG Cup was launched this year (2022) as a competition platform to build fun and inclusivity where everyone can have an opportunity to compete and to bring about a vibrant competitive sporting scene back in Singapore. It also serves as one of the key pillars for #bringsportback movement, and for Singapore to bring the widely participated sport of basketball and football back in a safe and structured environment, restarting sport competitions, and providing our youth with friendly and competitive game exposure.
KIN is honoured to play our part in the #bringsportback movement by providing our expertise in event managing, logistic support, as well as the playing the promoter role for the recently concluded ActiveSG Basketball Cup competitions.
The ActiveSG Basketball Cup series of games started with 1,600 youths from 322 teams competing across 5 different zones in Singapore with 2 teams qualifying for the Super League and the 3rd/4th placed teams for the Prime League events from each zones.
For this project, we successfully morphed from a sporting event planner and logistic support service provider to being an organiser and promoter for the event. Working closely with SportSG in conceptualising, planning, and marketing for the event, additional organiser/promoter work included promoting participation, players & teams liaison, tournament management as well as accommodating to some last minute ever- evolving changes in the Safe Management Measures protocols.
As the organising partner for the Central/East zones Finals, we also provided live streaming with commentary of the event that was held for the first time at Our Tampines Hub Festive Plaza; an effort to bring sports closer to the community.
Fuelled by a team of dedicated professionals in Sport Events management, KIN rose up to the challenge of being an organising partner and promoter for the ActiveSG Basketball competitions 2022 and delivered the event successfully.
