The Story
The HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens welcomed on-site spectators to the matches on 9-10 April 2022 – the 9th time that the World Rugby Sevens Series is hosted in Singapore – after a hiatus of 2 years due to the pandemic. KIN is honoured to be appointed once again in the staging of this event and to support the nation’s sporting community’s #bringsportback movement.
Played by teams of seven players on full-size pitches, the Rugby Sevens games are much shorter in duration compared to the traditional rugby. With some relaxation of the Covid-19 Safe Management Measures (SMM), the event hosted some 12,000 fully vaccinated spectators each day.
The event saw very enthusiastic spectators enjoying themselves over the weekend and also marked the first time a major sporting event in Singapore allowed food and beverage, including alcohol; within the spectator stands since Covid-19.
Having worked with the organisers since 2019, KIN had accumulated much knowledge, expertise and experience. Beyond the usual scope of delivering event setup of competition grounds, sponsors booths, fun zones for children and logistics support, KIN’s additional scope included Games Athletes Services where a team was put in place to assist in facilitating transportation requirement of athletes from host hotels to training/event venues, ensure that their hydration needs were met and that their recreational activities were looked into. With the recent announcements of relaxed SMM policies for events allowing more spectators just before the event, the agile KIN team responded immediately and sprung into action to assist the client in ensuring these needs were met on time.
The team’s dedication over the years have earned the client’s trust and reliance on KIN and a deepened relationship that allowed the KIN team to think on behalf of them, delivering a memorable event experience for all stakeholders.
